About

Hello. may name is Dan, in February 2023 I was diagnosed with a dodgy liver and had ascites. Ascites is when fluid builds up in your abdomen due to your liver not working properly. This means that every two weeks I have to visit my local hospital and have a drain fitted for 4 to 6 hours so that the fluid can be removed.

I was then diagnosed with fatty liver disease and cirhossis due to diabetes and a virus which they believe was caused by covid. Over the past year I have had a few procedures and hospital stays to have whats known as a tippsogram. where they insert a stent into a vein from your liver to try and encourage fluid to bypass your liver and go to your bladder and out the usual way. These have had limited success and I was referred to the Royal Free haspital to be assessed for a Liver transplant, the journey of which i am going to try and document here.
